Hello,

With single membership access, it's possible for clients to share their login details with the world.

For example, imagine one person buys single membership access to my 40-video online marketing course... then waits 60 days until the refund period has passed.

That person can post his username/password details on a forum (even "accidentally" or even claim they were "stolen"). Thousands of people could help themselves to the content without the webmaster even knowing it. (Apart from looking at bandwidth.)

Currently DLG offers no way to alert the site owner to username sharing.

I'd like to see the stats updated to display the number of client logins per month, including the IP addresses used.

Or even better, do what Amember does: automatically suspend a client's access if logged in from more than a set number of IP addresses.

Hi Mac,

That's a really good idea - counting the number of times an IP is logged in.

I'll also be adding a few more security features into the memberships for DLGuard Pro.

I'd be a little careful about suspending a user's account after logging in with a certain number of IP's.

Dial-up internet users will get a new IP everytime they connect to the net, and so say they check out your members area once a day, and maybe a few times at work, that'll be 30 to 40 different IP addresses per month from one client - all of them valid.

I could probably add this option anyway, and just make it optional. You could always set the number high, I suppose, such as 50 per month.

Anyway, I'll check it out and as mentioned I'll be adding a more things you'll like too!

cheers
Sam

Hi Sam,

The script could monitor simultaneous logins. If a username is logged in at the same time under three (or whatever) IP addresses, it's a fair bet the username is being shared.

Three is a good bet - I agree.

Two could cause issues, say a dialup user is disconnected from the net, and so they log back in and try and access the members area, there would be a few minutes where they couldn't access it because they'd still be logged in from the last "session".

So yes, 3 sounds good.

What I was cautioning against is a total number of IP addresses - not simultaenous.

cheers

Hi Sam,

Can I check whether you implemented this in the last release of DLG? Or is it coming in the future?

Best regards

Mac

Hi Mac,

Not yet - this will probably be implemented in DLGuard Pro, as I'll be doing a tonne of upgrades in the members section for Pro.

cheers

Let us say that a typical IP consists of 111.222.333.444 from a given dial-up account. Isn't it true that the 111.222 would remain the same even though the 333.444 may change?

If you ignored the 333.444 while looking for varying IP totals, then the dial-up duplicates could be ignored yet the different 111.222 could be counted.

Just an idea for thought that may help reduce false multiple IP counts.

Hi LW,

This is the sort of thing I'll be looking into - matching the first two number sets, and using a flagging system to display suspicious logins.

cheers

Hi,

Has it really been a year since I posted this request?

I know you are busy, Sam, but... a year?

Hi Mac,

This'll be going into DLGuard Pro, and so the other Pro features will be created first.

If you're looking for something quickly, then I can do custom modificaitons for you for a reasonable price.

cheers

Hi Gary,

I don't have a price on Pro yet, but I'm guessing between $200 and $250. That's only a guess, don't hold me to it!

Yes, there'll be an upgrade available to all current DLGuard owners where you'll be able to pay the retail price difference (or maybe less) to get Pro if you're interested.

Basically I'm aiming to take care of all existing DLGuard members, I don't want anyone to feel jibbed. I want it to be a bonus that you're a current member.

cheers

Hi Mac,

I don't have a date on Pro yet, but it'll be sooner rather than later.

Due to the complexity of Pro, instead of making everyone wait until everything is in place, I'll be releasing Pro with the main features people want (affiliate and OTO's), and then I'll release a few more waves as I add new features to the members areas, and cart.

cheers
